Wellbeing Cognitive Mindset Coaches and 6 Core Emotions

In school we have pupils trained as Cognitive Mindset Coaches to support our ‘Wellbeing’.

What is a Congitive Mindset Coach?

Cognitive mindset coaches help individuals develop a more positive and empowering mindset by identifying and addressing limiting beliefs, negative thought patterns, and behaviors that hinder personal and professional growth. They use techniques rooted in psychology and coaching methodologies to help pupils build resilience, enhance self- awareness, and cultivate a growth mindset.

They support pupils with the 6 core emotions.

The 6 core emotions, also known as basic or universal emotions, are happy, sad, fear, anger, surprised, and disgust.

These emotions are thought to be innate, cross- culturally recognisable, and distinguishable by facial expressions and biological processes.

The children use the A, B, C model, to help deal with the different emotions:

A = Acknowledge emotions

B = Behvaiours

C = Consequences

Some of the techniques we use to support our emotions:

Box Breathing

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Balloon Breathing
