Some useful resources that you could use at home to support everyone's mental health:
Staff Wellbeing at Stanton Bridge Primary School
At Stanton Bridge, we believe that happy, supported staff help create happy, successful pupils. Our team works incredibly hard, and we are committed to looking after their wellbeing so they thrive and can continue to give their best to the children in our care.
Below is an overview of how we support the wellbeing, mental health and professional growth of everyone who works at our school.
Our Commitment to Staff Wellbeing
We aim to:
-
Create a positive, supportive working environment
-
Make workload manageable and purposeful
-
Encourage open communication and a strong team culture
-
Celebrate staff achievements
-
Support the mental health and wellbeing of all staff, pupils and families
-
Provide opportunities for career development and progression
How We Support Staff
1. Reducing Workload
We regularly review our marking, planning and assessment systems to ensure they are effective but not excessive. This helps teachers focus on what matters most-high‑quality teaching and pupil progress.
Weekly or Fortnightly Release Time
Where staffing allows, teachers and teaching assistants receive time during the week to catch up on marking, plan lessons, complete training or observe colleagues.
Additional Catch‑Up Time
If staff fall behind on workload due to unforeseen circumstances, they can request extra release time, which we grant whenever possible.
2. Mental Health and Emotional Support
We take mental health seriously and provide a range of support options for staff.
Staff can access:
-
Support from trained Mental Health First Aiders
-
Guidance and help from the Senior Leadership Team
-
Signposting to external services
-
Coventry City Council’s staff discount scheme
-
Tailored professional development support
Pupils and families also have access to a wide range of wellbeing services, including mentoring, specialist SEND support, the school nurse, parenting workshops and financial assistance.
This whole‑school approach helps create a caring, supportive community for everyone.
3. Professional Growth and Career Progression
We value our staff and invest in their development. Many colleagues have progressed into new roles due to the opportunities we offer.
These include:
-
ECTs moving into leadership
-
TAs becoming teachers
-
Staff completing qualifications such as NVQs, degrees, NPQML or Masters programmes
-
Trustee gaining national qualifications
-
Support staff progressing into teaching or leadership roles
Where training aligns with school needs, staff may apply for financial support. Applications are considered carefully by the Trust Board.
A Caring, Supportive School Community
At Stanton Bridge, we are proud of the strong team spirit within our school. Staff wellbeing is central to our vision, and we continue to look for new ways to support our team so that they can thrive, professionally and personally.
