Friends of the Forces Workshop June 2019

Some of our children were fortunate enough to participate in a special 'Friends of the forces' workshop. This was delivered by a gentleman that has spent many years in the army. The children were told stories about his time in the army and got to see many photos and badges.

Children then had a chance to try the uniform and practice being a lead commander! There was a competition at the end between lead commanders to see which of them could best lead their group on a march across the hall. The children had lots of fun and asked if they could take part in this workshop every week!

Mindfulness Workshop June 2019

We have been lucky enough to have Konflux come into school to deliver mindfulness sessions!

Stanton Bridge prides itself on taking care of the well-being and mental health of both children and staff therefore we thought it was important that the children were given the opportunity to take part in a session which focused on breathing techniques and understanding emotions, such as stress.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is simply about being mindful of what you are thinking and deciding where you choose to focus your attention. Ideally, one would choose to focus his or her attention towards hopefulness and happiness with one’s self. Mindfulness is about deciding to look on the bright side and deciding to be kind to yourself and others.

 The benefits of mindfulness:

  • Better levels of concentration
  • Increased compassion
  • An understanding of our emotional intelligence
  • Improved sleep
  • More regular appetite
  • Can help boost our immune system
