Working in partnerships with parents

At Stanton Bridge Nursery, all staff members work hard to establish professional and harmonious relationships with parents because we recognise that positive outcomes for our nursery children are best achieved through co-operation and two-way conversations with parents/carers.  Hence, staff members are available at the beginning and end of each day to communicate with parents informally. Furthermore, nursery staff communicates with parents through school newsletters, journal observations, parents evenings and workshops. We work in partnership with other agencies to raise standards by meeting individual needs of our children.

To support your child’s learning and development, share story books with your child regularly.  Additionally, support your children to be independent, because when they master new skills or take on a responsibility they begin to see themselves as being capable.  This gives them added confidence, and makes them more likely to try out new things.  For instance, encourage them to put their coats on by themselves or tidy up their toys after playing.

In Autumn 2, we start to set weekly homework for nursery children.  This homework will be based around developing basic skills such as name writing, number skills and fine motor skills.  On Friday of each week the children will be given home learning, with the expectation that this work is completed by children and returned the following Wednesday. Home learning is uploaded on Showbie, for which logins and passwords have been given to all children.
