Stanton Bridge Primary School

Geography

At Stanton Bridge we shape our geography curriculum to ensure it is fully inclusive to every child. Our aims are to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum for Geography; providing a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum; ensuring the progressive development of geographical concepts, knowledge and skills; and for the children to develop a ‘love for geography’. We want our children to be inspired with a curiosity and fascination about the world, its people and their impact on the world, which will remain with them for the rest of their lives.

We want our children to leave Stanton Bridge with the development of their spatial awareness in and about the environment, locally and internationally. Studying locations, places and environments enhances our children's sense of place and space in the world. Furthermore, developing their understanding of global issues and how they are instrumental in influencing positive changes.  As young inquisitive geographers they will develop a range of geography skills and knowledge that will prepare them for the next stage of their learning.  Most importantly, it will empower their lives by learning not only about the world but also how it works, how it fits together and how to make a difference and become positive contributors to it.
