This week we have been lucky enough to have Konflux come into school to deliver mindfulness sessions!
Stanton Bridge prides itself on taking care of the well-being and mental health of both children and staff therefore we thought it was important that the children were given the opportunity to take part in a session which focused on breathing techniques and understanding emotions, such as stress.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is simply about being mindful of what you are thinking and deciding where you choose to focus your attention. Ideally, one would choose to focus his or her attention towards hopefulness and happiness with one’s self. Mindfulness is about deciding to look on the bright side and deciding to be kind to yourself and others.
The benefits of mindfulness:
- Better levels of concentration
- Increased compassion
- An understanding of our emotional intelligence
- Improved sleep
- More regular appetite
- Can help boost our immune system
So far Years 1-4 have taken part and the feedback has been great. Next week Years 5 and 6 will have their workshops and they are all looking forward to it, especially after the stress of SATs!
