National Support School

 Stanton Bridge is proud of the fact that it has National Support School Status. 

Stanton Bridge became a National Support School (NSS) in 2014 when the Headteacher Mrs. Islam OBE was designated a National Leader of Education (NLE). An NLE is an outstanding headteacher who works with schools in challenging circumstances to support school improvement in recognition of a strong track record of successfully raising standards.

As a National Support School, we offer a diverse programme of school support programmes based on the proven systems and strategies that have been developed and secured sustained impacted on pupil outcomes at Stanton Bridge.

We may also use other key members of school staff to provide support. Another member of staff is designated as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) and may support in this capacity.

Stanton Bridge was re-inspected by Ofsted in November 2019. The school was found to continue to be robustly good with many aspects of its work that is outstanding. As a National Support School, we wish to share the elements of our practice which secure the very best educational experiences and outcomes for pupils and develop the most effective, dynamic teachers and leaders.

Stanton Bridge has developed an exciting curriculum that is ambitious for pupils in the 21st Century. The topic-based curriculum is designed around key themes and skills and ensures pupils gain knowledge from a diverse range of experiences.

Programmes of Support

The programmes offered by Stanton Bridge are designed to work around the identified needs of the supported school. This may be a long term piece of work or a shorter, more focused project. We use the following key questions to measure the impact of the work undertaken:

-Are the aims understood and articulated by all stakeholders?

-Has the work significantly impacted on pupils’ outcomes?

-Are the improvements sustainable? 

 

School Support Process

We ensure that the programmes of support are designed and delivered around the unique needs and priorities of the school we support. Our programmes are bespoke and delivered with an agreed level of intensity. The process is as follows:

  1. Initial meeting with the school
  2. Supported school visits Stanton Bridge to observe relevant practices and understand the ethos of the school
  3. A one-day joint review of the school focusing on identified priorities
  4. Planning meeting and sign-off of support programme
  5. Implementation phase
  6. Evaluation and Review
  7. Next steps planning meeting and sign off; including follow-up
