Stanton Bridge Primary School

Governor Biographies

Dr. Shelagh Rixon (Chair of Governors)

I moved to Coventry in 1991 when I joined the University of Warwick and on retirement decided to settle here. I have been a governor at Stanton Bridge Primary School since 2000. In 2005 I became Vice Chair and in 2018 I was elected Chair of Governors.  My background is in international primary school education and cultural relations and during my earlier career with the British Council I worked in a number of other countries as a teacher and teacher trainer.  I have a special interest in the curriculum and as such chair the School Improvement Committee and act as English and Literacy Governor.  As Chair, I also monitor the school’s Child Protection activities.

Mr. Mohammed Islam (Vice Chair)

I have been a governor at Stanton Bridge Primary School since 2008.  My background is in business and finance and during my career I have had experience in management, administration IT support,  Human Resources and finance.  I use my experience and expertise to serve the school as Vice Chair of Governors and in particular as Chair of the Finance Personnel and Premises Committee whose major concern is with monitoring and ensuring good financial and employment practices within the school.

Mrs. Saira Nazneen (Governor)

I have been a governor a Stanton Bridge Primary School since 2015.  I wanted to give something back to the school where I myself was educated and so approached the school.  My background is in business and I have served as Head Business Development, UK for De La Rue PLC and before that have had posts with Barclays Bank and Coventry City Council and Warwickshire Health Services.  My current roles on the governing body are as SEND (Special Education Needs and Disability) Governor and Governor with responsibility for monitoring the school’s implementation of GDPR regulations.
